Wanderings…

Timing is everything. The perfect weather for Friday’s visit to the raptor center in VT was the first warm and sunny day that we have had for my visit. It was iffy for the trip to Saint Gauden’s National Historic site on Saturday, but that turned out okay too. I took pictures with my phone, and pictures with my camera, and they aren’t organized the way they would be if I’d been adding them to the computer. So here’s a sampling. I’ve been taking hummingbird pictures too, or attempting to, but he is an elusive little critter.

This is as you enter the grounds of Saint Gauden’s. It’s a good thing we got there when we did because as we were leaving a wedding party was arriving. There was no prep going on at the venue, and the grounds are open all year but the buildings aren’t open until the end of May. I think this was a DIY wedding, I think it was going to be fun for them and the weather was trying to improve.
Definitely not in Florida anymore.
There were lots of sculptures on the grounds. This depicts General Shaw who led a group of buffalo soldiers. It was said that those soldiers, only a fraction of whom had been slaves, had the most to lose and the most to gain by enlisting to serve their county.
Beautiful presentation for this statue.
This photo is from the observation tower that was WAY up high at the VIN center in VT. I think if I’d had to go up one more step I wouldn’t have made it.
Would you let your kids run about on that mesh in the center of this platform? I might have let mine, but I was young and foolish when my kids were little. I’d never have let the grandkids do it. Older and wiser, or just more of a chicken.
